Eclectically Challenged

I dedicate my first post to a song that I am absolutely in love with at the moment! Maybe not an exceptional start but the song is beautiful!! Islands by The XX is a song that oozes style. Up until now I have not been convinced of the ever-expanding adoration for The XX; then I heard Islands. The song is simple, put together by two people that clearly understand the appeal simplicity can have in a world of over-production! The theme of the song may not be groundbreaking but it is expressed eloquently and without resorting to over-used expressions, realising that to write a love song you don’t have to repeat the word endlessly. That repetition often leads us to believe that the singer is only trying to convince themselves, whereas the effortlessly expressed ‘I am yours now/So now I don’t ever have to leave’, is unquestionable in it’s conviction. So without further ado, go ahead and immerse yourself in the elegance of Islands…
